ABOUT ME

Until 2023, I was Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Kent, where I taught for thirteen years. During that time, I also peer-reviewed for Bloomsbury Publishing, consulted for the Wellcome Trust, and served as External Examiner for Cambridge ICE’s Creative Writing programme. I have 15 years experience in literary editing and academic supervision and mentoring BA, MA, and PHD students in universities and teaching in a variety of educational establishments, and have helped many writers and scholars achieve their dream of completing a manuscript and being published.

Now working as a Freelance Writer, Consultant and Independent Interdisciplinary Researcher, offering expertise for individuals, research centres, and institutions who want to refine, expand, communicate and broaden the reach of their creative projects.

I have shared my creative and critical insights at institutions such as Columbia, Exeter, Birkbeck, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, the Science Museum, the Barbican Arts Centre, Turner Contemporary, and on BBC Radio Kent. I have also presented work at the Magnetic South Arts & Music Festival and voix outré at the Union Chapel.

TESTIMONIALS

Dr Kiare Ladner

Creative Consultant Dorothy Lehane is a real find! She responded to my initial query promptly and warmly. On engaging her help with my quandary, her feedback was detailed, thoughtful and insightful. She asked me a number of perceptive and incisive questions that helped me see see the problem in a new light, and made me excited about going back to my project. Dorothy evidently sees the long view as well as immediate issue at hand. I can't wait to work with her again.

HIGHLIGHTS

A highlight in my career as a writer was that the Impaired/Heightened Sense conference at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris, began with a quotation from my pamphlet on speech disorders, Places of Articulation.
